Canada boasts with some of the world’s finest fishing grounds. When the summer season kicks off in early March, many anglers make their way to the Canadian fishing territories. Vancouver Island is particularly popular amongst anglers looking to catch Feeder Chinooks, Halibut, Ucelet, King Salmon, and Bass.

In recent years Bass fishing has become one of the most popular fishing sports. The bass family, together with Striped, Largemouth, Smallmouth, Spotted, Black, and White, serve to start countless numbers of latest anglers every season. This fame has yielded a multi-million dollar industry unto itself, aside from the businesses of other modes of sport fishing. There are even fishing boats designed specifically for Bass fishing!A variety of bass are known by such local names as black, white, or rock bass. Bass or “Smallies” are known as the little fighters and are enjoyable to catch! There are currently 9 general and 30 types of known fish in the Bass and Sunfish family in The United States alone. The most prominent of the Bass families are the different varieties of Black Bass. The largemouth black bass is also called Bayou, are found throughout central United States and can weight up to 9 kg (20 lb). The smallmouth black bass resembles the largemouth bass, and the dotted bass is found in the Mississippi basin. Smallmouth bass are found from Lake Champlain southwest to the Appalachian region; they reach a maximum weight of about 2.3 kg (about 5 lb).Pound for pound, the Smallmouth Bass are the feistiest fish in Northwest Ontario. The Sunset Country is one of Canada’s finest Bass fishing locations and in high season it’s waters teem with these little fighters waiting to take hold of your bait. With more than 70 000 lakes, you can be assured of finding an excellent fishing spot in Canada.The gorgeous, dirt free Canadian lakes offer good fishing conditions from spring, through to fall - and ice fishing for the more adventurous during winter. You will grasp your limit most days, but even when the fishing slows down, the loveliness of our Canadian wilderness is an remarkable experience in itself.

You will find also a lot of establishments in and around the lakes that sells and rents gears and boats to be used for Bass fishing. There are also plenty of restaurants that dish up Bass in many varieties. So if you were unsuccessful at catching one, at least you can have the pleasure of tasting one.
